Pyle RFC 2nds v Nantymoel RFC 2nds

After their game was cancelled last weekend the 2nd XV took to the field against Pyle 2nds in what was their first game of the season.

Nantymoel, who were fielding two players who were featuring in their first competitive match, were blow away by the Pyle team who came out firing on all cylinders and went into a quick 15 - 0 lead.

With one of the new players for Nantymoel, William Lever, being in the front row and due to his inexperience, for safety reason the scrums went passive which obviously favoured Nantymoel who took full advantage of this.

Nantymoel showed great character and grit to force themselves back into the game and tries came from Lewis Hughes, who showing his youth and pace scored two tries from his own half.

A further two tries also came from the ever reliable Nathan Davies from the centre who in his usual barn storming play powered over the line to score his tries.

There was also a surprise score for front row forward David Jones who from 5 yards out dived over a ruck, American Football style, to touch down, although there was a slight hint of a drop.

The final score for Nantymoel was a real team effort. Outside half Simon Collins saw space and took a quick penalty. A mixed up in the home defence then saw Jonathan Gapper unselfishly put prop Oliver Bevan over in the corner to score Nantymoel’s fifth try.

However, Nantymoel had to dig deep going into the final quarter as injuries to players left Nantymoel with only 13 players on the pitch which allowed Pyle to run in a fourth try.

The other Nantymoel points were from the boot of full back Alex Williams who kicked two conversions for Nantymoel after taking over the kicking duties from Simon Collins who couldn't hit a barn door. The final score being Pyle 20 Nantymoel 34.

A big congratulations and thank you to the two new starter today, William Lever and Daniel Langley, who both done brilliantly.
