Taibach RFC v Nantymoel RFC

Nantymoel RFC won their fourth game of the season and their third on the trot as they beat Taibach RFC 34 points to 22 to earn bonus point win by scoring 4 tries.

 

In a game that was touch and go through out, Taibach took an early 6 points to 0 lead through two penalties.

 

But they were soon pegged back after winger Simon Collins, making his first appearence for the 1st XV this season after coming back from injury and staring for the 2nd XV, crossed in the corner for an unconverted try to make the score 6 - 5.

 

Taibach then scored their first try of the match to extend their lead to 11 - 5 but almost immediately outside half Shaun Webber slotted over his first penalty of the game to norrow Taibach's lead to 11 - 8.

 

Further penalties were exchanged before Taibach ran in their second try to make the score 19 - 11.

 

Nantymoel's second try of the game went to flanker Daivd Bishop which was converted by Webber to close the gap to 19 - 18 in a game that could not be any closer.

 

Nantymoel then went into the lead for the first time in the game after Webber sent over his third penalty of the game to make the score 19 - 21. However, this lead was short lived as the referee immediately give Taibach a penalty from the kick off which they converted to take them back into the lead 22 - 21.

 

Webber then slotted over his fourth penalty of the match for Nantymoel to go back into the lead 22 - 24.

 

Nantymoel then extended their lead after second row Ricardo Morgan crossed for an unconverted try to make it 22 - 29.

 

And the final score of the game went to winger Rhys Bevan, which takes his tally to five for the season, and made the final score Taibach RFC 22 Nantymoel RFC 34. 

 

This game also saw Ryan Davies make his first appeareance for Nantymoel after being out injured for 8 months. Davies come onto the field for the final 10 minutes of the match but ended up leaving the field before his team mate after receiving a yellow card.

 

Nantymoel are now up to fifth in the league on 21 points.
