Nantymoel RFC 2nds travelled to the Llynfi valley and in recorded a convincing win 36 to 7 win over Maesteg Celtic RFC 2nds in atrocious conditions.
In a tight first half Nantymoel took an early 8 nil lead through a penalty by outside half Ryan Davies which was followed by try for Ryan’s older brother and centre Nathan Davies which went unconverted.
By half time Celtic had closed the gap to 7 – 8 with a converted try.
Playing down the slight slope in the second half Nantymoel took full advantage and the first try went to wing Alex Williams which was converted by outside half Davies to take Nantymoel’s score onto 15.
The next try for The Moel went to centre Simon Collins who slid over under the posts after collecting a delightful chip over the top by Ryan Davies who also converted to take the score onto Celtic 7 Nantymoel 22.
Collins soon collected his second try of the match after number 8 Ricky Morgan picked the ball up from the base of the scrum close to the half way line and after breaking through 4 would be tacklers off loaded to Collins to cross the line to score which Davies easily converted.
The final score of the match went to winger Alex Williams who crossed in the corner to also bag his second try of the match which Davies converted from wide out to leave the final score Celtic 7 Nantymoel 36.
