Nantymoel RFC v Cwngors RFC

Nantymoel RFC recorded their second win of the season with a convincing home win over Cwmgors RFC in this SWALEC League 2 West Central clash in which this also gain a bonus point for running in 5 tries.

The scoring for Nantymoel was opened by number 8 Sion Hunnam who scored his try from a push over scrum which went unconverted. Cwmgors and Nantymoel exchanged penalties to make the score 8 - 3.

Nantymoel then stretched their lead after outside half Shaun Webber run the ball towards the oppositions and after drawing in the defenders put a deft chip over the top for full back Andrew Thomas to race through from deep and gather the ball to cross for Nantymoel’s second try which Webber converted.

And just before half time Cwmgors got their second penalty to make the score at the break 15 - 6.

Playing down the slope in the second half Nantymoel took full advantage and they soon stretched their lead after the ball was moved quickly along the back line which included an excellent past by hooker Tom Davies which eventually put away winger Mark Chapman to touch down for a try in the corner which went unconverted to move the score onto 20 points to 6.

Full back Thomas then scored his second try of the match in what was a duplicate move of his first try with Webber chipping over the approaching defence which Webber converted to make 27 - 6 and secured the winning bonus point for scoring 4 tries.

The final score of the game went to centre Tim Clemett after the pack drove the Cwmgors scrum off their own ball. The ball was then moved quickly from the back of the Nantymoel scrum to centre Clemett to brushed off a couple of would be tackles to score Nantymoel’s fifth try with Webber also converted to make the final score 34 - 6.

This was an excellent result and awesome effort from Nantymoel especially considering they played with only 13 players on the field at one point in the second half with both scrum half Connor Walker yellowed carded for a high tackle and flanker Steven Morgan for an offside offence.

Nantymoel’s next game is on 07 November 2015 away to Neath Athletic who has slipped from one place above Nantymoel to one place below and is another fixture Nantymoel must target to move away from the foot of the table and make themselves safe this season.
