Nantymoel RFC secured their placein the next round of the Swalec Bowl by beating local neighnours Bryncethin RFC 28 - 9.

The game started off by Nantymoel scrum half Gareth Powell and Bryncethins Paul Short exchanging penalties. In muddy conditions Nantymoel opened the try scoring with back rower Sion Hunnam breaking the vistors defence and powering over the line which Powell duly converted.

Coming up to the interval Nantymoel lost a player due to an infringement and on the final minute of the half an altercation saw two Nantymoel players and a Bryncethin player sent to the bin.

The home team, despite being down to 12 players, then scored again early in the second half as scrum half Powell saw a gap open and moved swiftly from the scrum to slide over under the sticks which he converted.

A brief revival from the vistors saw them testing the Nantymoel's line but they could not break the home sides staunch defence. On the 60th minute the Nantymoel coaching team made changes to the front row and the refreshed pack created a platform to spread the ball wide across the back to last years Youth product David Eades who scored in the corner which Powell again converted. The game finished with Nantymoel winiing confortable 28 - 9.

A special mention must be made to Nantymoels evergree front rower Nicky Hawkins who covered all 3 front row postions during the game. Nantymoel coaches Lee Humphries and Rhymel Ricketts said that even though at one point in the game we were doen to 12 players the boys stuck at their game plan and execuited it brutally.

Nantymoel have now been undefeated this season winning all their games except for one draw and now sit top of their league. Next week Nantymoel travel to play league strugglers Pontrhydyfen.
