Nantymoel RFC Youth kick started their league season in style with a crushing defeat of Trebanos RFC Youth 40-17.
Nantymoel dominated the opening scrums which gave them the platform to open the scoring with, Outside Half and in form player from last season, Lloyd Cheeseman to score under the sticks.
Trebanos scored their first try in the 22nd minute through their captain following a clever lineout move involving most of their forwards.
But after Nantymoel hooker James Llewellyn had a try disallowed, the Nantymoel adventure paid off after a clever flat Cheeseman pass put flying Centre Paul Williams through to score his first try. Cheeseman then had to leave the field of play with a suspected broken arm.
Centre Williams helped create the third try soon after with some incisive running alongside lively scrum-half Lewis Carson and full-back Jarred Watkins with back rower Brandon Twine tracking across and finishing off the flowing move with a try in the corner.
But that proved the last action for centre Paul Williams as he limped off with a knee injury just before half-time to be replaced by Jiarni Kristaps who bagged a try of his own from his first play of entering the park.
Tries then came from scrum half Lewis Carson and Centre Sam Jones. Now dominating in the pack, Nantymoel Captain and Prop Jacob Edwards made a barnstorming run and claimed a try of his own. Trebanos then came back with some quick hands across their backs for their open side wing forward to work his way under the sticks for a try, which was converted.
In the final moments of the game full back Jarred Watkins caught a high ball and jinked his way through the visitors defence to score a try of his own making the final score Nantymoel RFC Youth 40 - Trebanos RFC Youth 17.
Head Coach Andrew Blowing said "I am so impressed with this young sides performance as they have worked hard pre-season and it is now paying off”. Nantymoel Youth train every Monday and Wednesday at 19:00 hours.
